Glenda Ruth Williams Miller

On Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, the world lost a woman of amazingly inspiring strength, kindness, and grace when Glenda Ruth Williams Miller passed away surrounded by loved ones in her 85th year. She was born in Brady, Texas on Christmas Eve, 1931 to Earl and Ruth Williams and married the love-of-her-life Roy Miller in San Angelo, Texas on Dec. 15, 1954. They eventually found themselves in San Marcos, Texas where they spent many years raising three children, and welcoming grand-kids who could never wait to see Nanny and Pop.

She is survived by her proudest achievements: her beloved children Dan Roy Miller, Darla Jeanne Miller Powell, and Ben Douglas Miller; her adored adopted daughter Deborah Kariuki Ankutse; her devoted children-in-law Rhonda Hortness Miller, Tracy Humphries Miller, and Emmanuel Ankutse; 11 loving grand-kids, three doting grand-daughters-inlaw, and even one cherished great-grandson.

She is preceded in death by her parents Earl Daniel Williams and Ruth Alice Gamblin Williams, her husband Dr. Roy V Miller Jr., her sister Nelda Lorraine Williams Lewis, and her son-in-law Ricky Dean Powell.

She was a member of Southmont Baptist Church, and funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. at Cowboy Cemetery in Rochelle, Texas, next to her husband and near to the homestead she loved so much.

In lieu of flowers or donations, remember Nanny by following her example, and doing something kind for someone you love.
