Henry ‘Enrique’ Silva Cruz

Henry “Enrique” Silva Cruz of San Marcos, Texas passed away on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at the age of 93. He was born to Prudencio and Francisca Cruz on Aug. 25, 1925 in Martindale, Texas.

Henry Cruz was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He served his country in World War II in the United States Marine Corps.

During WWII he served in the Pacific with the First Marine Division and was a recipient of a Purple Heart medal as a result of enemy action on May 7th 1945 in Okinawa, Japan.

After the war he reenlisted in the United States Air Force and retired as a Tech Sergeant.

After his retirement, he and his younger brother Abel Cruz started a new business, A&H Pest Control and operated the company for 8 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gloria Jaramillo Cruz and all his siblings, sisters Alicia Ybarra (Ramon) and Zulema Diaz (Elizardo), brothers Prudencio “Furi” Cruz Jr. and Abel Cruz (Maria), his son Robert Cruz and son in law Demecio Castilleja. He is survived by his sons, Roland Cruz of San Marcos and Frank Cruz (Irma) of Martindale; daughter Yvonne Castilleja of Spring Branch; seven grandchildren, Demecio Jason Castilleja (Amanda), Greg Castilleja, Christopher Cruz (Cynthia), Carida Gonzales (Oscar), Jonathan Flores, Bianca Flores and Caleb Cruz; and nine great-grandchildren, ZZ Ross Castilleja, Nadia Moore, Carissa Cruz, Lorenzo Cruz, Isaac Cruz, Elias Gonzalez, Azalea Gonzalez, Ezekiel Gonzalez and Alaina Gonzalez.

Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home, 3 to 7 p.m., Monday Dec. 10, 2018, with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Pastor Ken Volkert and Pastor David Turnini will be officiating. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 11, 2018, in the Pennington Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.

The Family would like to thank Hacienda Oaks Nursing and Rehab. of Sequin and also Amedia Hospice of San Antonio for the care they provided for Mr. Cruz.
