Isabel Hernández Vázquez

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Isabel Hernández Vázquez of San Marcos, Texas peacefully passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018. Her loving husband of over 54 years, Luis G. Vázquez, Jr. was by her side. She was born Nov. 5, 1943 in Laredo, Texas, the only daughter of the late Adelaida Concepción Hernández. She attended Martin High School and then moved to San Antonio, Texas to attend business school. She was a Pharmacy Technician at what was then the Robert B. Green Hospital. After starting her family, Isabel worked as a secretary for Northside Independent School District. She was most proud of her work as the principal’s secretary at Northside Health Careers High School, the first medical magnet high school in Texas. 

Isabel is survived by her three children and their spouses, Louis III (Dave); Liza Williams (Donald); and Roland (Andrea). Isabel (Mamo) joyfully embraced every opportunity to spend time with her five wonderful granddaughters: Catarina, Morgan, Angelina, Christine, and Kimberly. 

The family would like to thank Dr. J. Landon Smith and staff of Texas Oncology and Seton Kyle Hospital, as well as all other caregivers for all the help and support.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, from 8 until 11 a.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos, Texas (2001 Old Ranch Rd 12). Later that evening, a Rosary will be recited in the funeral home chapel of Porter Loring Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas (1101 McCullough Ave) at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio, Texas (115 W. Main Plaza). Burial will follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2 in San Antonio, Texas.
