John Jay Trumbull

John Jay Trumbull, 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb, 10, 2017, in San Marcos, Texas, surrounded by family.

John was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on May 15, 1948 to Roy Trumbull and Ada Caldwell. He graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls in 1966.  John married his beloved wife of forty-five years, Judy Lee, in 1971.

John proudly served in the Air Force for eight years, owned and operated Trumbull Digging Service in South Dakota with his brother, Roger, and, after moving to Texas in 1980, had a distinguished career with the U.S. Postal Service.

John was a hard-working, loving father and husband, who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid bowler, and competed in many tournaments in his lifetime. He will be dearly missed by friends and family, and forever in our hearts.

John is survived by his wife Judy, San Marcos, Texas; daughter Jessica and son-in-law Jim Shaw, Parkville, Missouri; son John (J.R.) and his fiancé Shelly; his five grandchildren, Micaela, Kelsie, and Peyton Shaw, and Zane and Natalie Trumbull.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence, Martin (Bud), and Roger, his mother and father, and his much beloved dogs, Chance and Kamper.

The family would like to thank friends, neighbors, and relatives for all of their love, prayers, and support. In John’s honor, we would like to encourage support of the nonprofit group, in their work to find a cure for Alzheimer’s.

A memorial service will be held at Pennington Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 18, with visitation at 2 p.m. and service beginning at 3 p.m.
