Nicanor (Nick) G. Castro

Nicanor (Nick) G. Castro

Thursday, February 21, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Nicanor (Nick) G. Castro announces his passing on Feb. 11, 2019 at the age of 75 years. Nick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Manuela and his children, Clarissa (spouse Felix), Sylvia (spouse Allen), and Valerie (spouse Hunter). Nick will also be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren, Bryana (spouse Lawrence), Ilyanna, Jasmin, Terrell, Emery and Brylynn. He is preceded in death by his mother Estefana Garcia Castro, father Paulino Castro and all his siblings.

Nick was born on Nov. 8, 1943 in Kyle, TX. He was a veteran that served in the U.S. Army from August 1964 through August 1970. He retired from IBM in 1991 after 25 years. He continued in the workforce until November 2017.

Nick was a strong-willed, sarcastic, hard-working, generous and loving man. Although he was set in his ways, he would give a stranger the shirt off of his back and never hesitated to do for his family even if it meant him going without. He was loved by so many people, not only family but coworkers and the many people he had the privilege to manage over the years in his many roles as a supervisor or manager. He received many gifts and awards for his dedication to his work. He loved to go shopping, buy gifts and could never pass up a “good” deal. He was a faithful husband and never missed bringing our mother yellow roses on birthdays and anniversaries.

A Funeral Service in memory of Nick Castro will be held on March 8, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. Williams Catholic Church, 620 Round Rock West Drive, Round Rock TX with Fr. Henry Cuellar Jr. officiating. His favorite color was purple so if you are able to join us, please consider wearing purple to celebrate his life.
