Otilia ‘Tila’ Hernandez Ortiz

Otilia “Tila” Hernandez Ortiz, 83, of Kyle, TX, born Dec. 13, 1934, in Taylor, TX passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at her home with her loving family by her side: Richard Ortiz, Oscar and Sylvia Ortiz, Norma and Danny Appel, Amelia and Gabriel Lopez, Adrian and son Maddox Ortiz and Oscar Jr. and Jenny Ortiz.

She was a loving mother and housewife until her last child started school. She was a certified nursing assistant at Carrizo Springs Nursing Home and Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead, MN. Otilia also worked at CSISD in the student Nurishment department. In her later years, Otilia retired to be her husband’s caregiver for 11 years.

Otilia was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Rodolfo, whom she married on Nov. 19, 1952 and who passed away on June 4, 2011 and grandson Carlos Ortiz who passed away on Oct. 14, 2001.

She is survived by eight children, 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A private family service was held on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018 at Thomason Funeral Home followed by burial at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, TX.
