Ray ‘Roger’ Reeves

February 11, 2018 - May 24, 1977

Mr. Ray “Roger” Reeves, a gentleman, coiffure, and charming businessman, passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of 40. Ray spent his last day celebrating Mardi Gras with his closest friends in his favorite city, a yearly tradition in shenanigans.

Roger Ray was born on May 24, 1977 in Fredericksburg TX. As a young boy, he was raised in Blanco, TX by his grandparents, Roger and Ruth Reeves and mother, Evelyn. As a young man, he moved to San Marcos, having his daughter Katherine Reeves in 1997 and starting the life he has always dreamed of having. In 2001, he met the love of his life, Corey Casey, who completed their beautiful family. Working as a nurse for 10 years, Ray felt the push for a career change and  felt the passion for makeup, becoming a freelance MAC pro artist. Thriving in his career change he worked to get his cosmetology license and with Corey by his side, opened Salon Mink in 2008. Always expanding his education and passions, he received his barber license in 2016 which inspired his iconic dapper mustache. Inspired and forever dreaming big, he had hopes of opening the Ray Reeves Barber Academy in 2018. This year, he finalized the Ray Reeves Scholarship Foundation to give back to his community and to keep San Marcos Beautiful. With a touch of Ray, anyone that’s had the chance to sit in his chair has been blessed by his talent.

Ray leaves behind his husband, Corey Allen Casey, daughter, Katherine “Kat” Sophia Elaina Dianne Reeves and grandmother “Nina”. As well as his beloved family of Blanco, TX. He is joining his grandfather Roger W. Reeves to watch over us.

In Roger Ray’s memory memorial contributions may be made to the Ray Reeves Scholarship Foundation, 331 W. Hopkins Street, Ste. 108, San Marcos, TX 78666.

A Celebration of “Roger” Ray Reeves will be Sunday, Feb. 18, 2:30 p.m. at the Hill Country Church, 1401 Davis Lane, San Marcos, TX with the Reverend Tim Darnell officiating. Interment to follow at the San Marcos City Cemetery.
