Raymond Byron Stone

Sunday, December 16, 2018

Raymond Byron Stone, 71, has died following an eight-year battle with five types of cancer. Stone, a 46-year resident of San Marcos, had worked for the state of Texas, as an independent distributor of the Daily Record, as a news and art photographer, and one of the founders of a recycling non-profit here in the 70s.

Ray earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southwest Texas State and a master’s from Purdue. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish, play tennis and golf, and hike to remote pristine locations in the western U.S. Known as a gourmet chef and wine connoisseur, he will be missed by all who tasted his creations, especially his almond roca-style Christmas candy.

He is survived by his wife Peggy; three children, Raymond Stone, Cathy Werner (Ben) and Robert Stone; mother Margaret Stone; brother William Stone; and two beloved grandchildren, Lilliana Werner and Ruby Werner.
