Ruby Berry

Ruby Berry, 90, of San Marcos, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 in San Marcos. She was born to Willie Hastings Myers and Annie Maude Smith Myers in Big Sandy, TN on Oct. 11, 1928.

She was the oldest of 5 children.

Ruby (best known as Grannie) grew up in Big Sandy, TN and then moved with her family to Cleveland Ohio. In 1955 Ruby and family came to San Marcos on vacation and decided to make this their home.  Over the years she worked for the San Marcos Telephone Company, LCRA and spent many years as the office manager at Night Hawk Frozen Foods.

Ruby was most proud of her family.  She loved that she moved to Texas with a little family of four that has now grown to almost sixty strong. Ruby loved spending time at the beach, floating the San Marcos River, listening to music and any time spent with family. She led her family with love and grace and set the example that with hard work and perseverance all things were possible.

She is survived by daughters, Kathy Donnelly and husband Dr. Bob Donnelly of San Marcos, Judy Berry of San Marcos; and son, Daren Berry and wife Pamela of Buda, Texas; sister, Patricia Haskitt of Monroe, PA; brother, Don Myers of Parma Heights, OH; sister-in-law, Kathryn Myers of Sandusky, OH; grandchildren, Nancie Shelton and husband Dondi, Tamara Farris and Charlie, Jennifer Noble, Mistie Skloss and David, Jared Donnelly, Margaret Donnelly, Ashlee Mathis and husband Matt, Justin Berry, Tyler Berry, and Chace Berry; 16 great-grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren. 

Ruby is also survived by close family friends LeRoy White and Anita Jones.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Dalton Myers; sister, Christine Worden, daughter, Diana Greenwalt; infant son David Berry, and grandson, Chance Donnelly.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at Solid Rock Church in San Marcos.
