Ruby Clara Engel Feick

April 6, 1919 - December 29, 2017

Ruby Clara Engel Feick of New Braunfels, Texas returned to the Lord and to her beloved husband on Dec. 29, 2017 at the age of 98 years, just short of her 99th birthday.

Ruby was born on April 6, 1919, the sixth child of Rudolph Engel and Sophie Stollewerk Engel. She married Herbert H. Feick on April 10, 1937 and enjoyed 45 years of wedded bliss until his death in 1982.

Ruby and Herbert raised two children together, Charlene Feick Johnston and William “Bill” Feick. As her children grew up, she was an active den mother in the Cub Scouts and room mother at their schools. When her children got older, Ruby and Herbert enjoyed many summer vacations to locales such as Niagara Falls, Mexico, Hawaii, New York, Florida, California, and Many Places in between. When Herbert became too ill to travel, Ruby was his loving caretaker during his years of failing health. After Herbert’s death, Ruby moved to San Marcos and spent many years tending to her flower beds and garden. She had a green thumb and was known to have the most beautiful yard on the block. Ruby was also very talented at quilting, sewing, and crocheting. Many of her family and friends have been blessed to receive her beautiful creations. She continued to crochet after she moved to the assisted living unit at Eden Hill Communities and received awards in the Leading Age Texas statewide competitions at ages 90 and 92.

Ruby is survived by her brother Elton Schwab of New Braunfels, her daughter Charlene Feick Johnston and son-in-law Blue Johnston of San Marcos, son William “Bill” Feick of Seguin, grandson William “Bud” Feick and his wife Diane of Godley, granddaughter Abby Johnston and Joe Mike Oldham of San Marcos, granddaughter Jodi Johnston Steen and husband Don Steen of San Marcos, three great grandchildren, Wesley Feick of Godley, Ben Steen of San Marcos, and Sarah Steen of San Marcos, as well as by many nieces and nephews.
