An invocation controversy arose in San Marcos on May 16 when a Satanist leader gave the invocation at a meeting of the City Council.

Four years ago on a cold winter night, Teresa Todd was driving on a highway in West Texas when she saw three young migrants from Central America limping along the side of the road. Concerned that one of them, a woman named Esmeralda, looked severely dehydrated and exhausted, Todd pulled over and invited the three of them into her car to stay warm.

So far, the pending impeachment trial of Ken Paxton is looking like something between a playground spat and the setup to a barroom brawl. The attorney general’s trial in the Senate is a time when it’s critical to show that order, decorum and justice prevail.

It’s been a week since the special called meeting of the Hays County Commissioners Court. Since the special called meeting, a county employee of the Tax Assessor’s Collectors Office was arrested and booked on serious charges. Why have the commissioner’s been quiet on this issue? Shouldn’t there be discussions taking place on how the fraudulent activities occurred or a special audit being conducted on the Tax Assessor’s Collectors Office? If audits are done on county departments, why was the activity not caught during an annual audit? I would expect an auditor to recommend safeguards to avoid such activity.
