Do not vote to enact ‘Senate Bill Crime’

Letter to the Editor
Sunday, May 12, 2019

Letter from an angry white grandma:

I am writing about Senate Bill 9, which should actually be called “Senate Bill Crime”. Texas has a long history of voter suppression but this bill is over the top petty, petulant and pathetic (even by Texas standards). The language of the bill is insane and blatantly evil. It screams, “We (the white supremacists in the Texas Senate) don’t want these ‘poor or sick or elderly or brown or black people’ to have access to their polling places.” This bill will not only deny them their right to vote but will make it a crime to help them vote.

The Senate of Texas had the nerve to say this bill will protect “our” democracy. I ask them whose democracy? Calling the bill something that even hints that it will save or enhance democracy is total poppycock by a bunch or un-American, anti-freedom for ALL, fear biting cowards.

I am a white 71 year old female and I must admit that I have NEVER seen such a low life attempt to deny people their right to vote since Bloody Sunday March 7, 1965. I was 17. The Constitution of the United States of America guarantees each man or woman 18 and older their right to vote.

SHAME ON ANY ONE WHO VOTES TO ENACT SB9!
