The school board election is May 1.

Early voting starts April 19 and continues through April 27.

Our schools have had a tough time during the pandemic.

This year we have a particularly well-qualified candidate for the SMCISD school board.

Dr. Mari Salmi is running as an at large candidate for the school board.

She has lived in San Marcos since 2012 and has three children in the district.

Her oldest will graduate from high school this year.

Her younger children are at Miller.

She has been very involved in PTO and in booster organizations for years.

She has also been part of School Fuel and the work of other nonprofits in San Marcos.

Her PhD is in molecular biology, and she does research in regenerative medicine for a company in San Antonio.

I have voted by mail for her already, and I ask your readers to vote for her.
