My brother Michael De Leon worked at the Daily Record years ago as a graphic designer in hopes to one day write sports. His day never came at the Record or any other media outlet so he created his own in the website, which he founded in 2004 — ProjectSpurs.com. Throughout the years, Michael made it a point to give young aspiring journalist their start and helped nurture them into sought after professionals.
Michael passed away on Monday 3-21-22 and sparked a trend of worldwide tributes in his name with the recurring theme that he made them what they are today. #MikeMadeMe
While he was here in San Marcos, one of his network sites was Texas Redzone Report where he covered the Rattlers as well as many other high school teams.
The family has a GoFundMe account raising money in order pay funeral expenses and to create a scholarship fund for young journalists in his name. I would love your assistance promoting this effort.
