Support of Lions appreciated

Letter to the Editor

Dear San Marcos Lions:

Someone in your Club had a great idea many years ago and your tube rental concessions on the river have made a huge difference in our community. Thank you for all the hard work over the years and for giving back so much to non-profit organizations in San Marcos!

The San Marcos Education Foundation has been a benefactor of your donations on a number of occasions. The Foundation is now 22 years old, and in that time, it has generated approximately $900,000 that has been shared with the local education community. Our mission is to provide resources that enrich teaching, inspire learning, and maximize opportunities for all students in the San Marcos CISD.

The Foundation’s goals are to recognize and reward innovative efforts and excellence in teaching, to encourage and enhance opportunities for all students to work toward their highest potential, to build community and parental awareness and support for the Foundation, to seek and secure funds from other resources and to develop business, community and parental parhrerships to support the Foundation.

We appreciate the San Marcos Lions Club’s donations to the Foundation’s budgets. They have helped us award larger innovative teaching grants to energetic and creative teachers in the District. This past year was no exception.

We also appreciate the San Marcos Lions Club’s sponsoring a shooting station at our annual Skeet Shoot in the fall. It is always a fun-filled day that enables us to reach our annual fundraising goal. This year’s Skeet Shoot will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, so please tell your friends and neighbors about it. Shooting teams (of 4) will cost $400 and the event will be held again at La Cima.

Thank you for your great generosity over the years. May San Marcos Lions continue to roar and do greater good in the community!

Sincerely,

Lacie Orsak

President San Marcos Education Foundation
