The journey south is beginning as these Monarch butterflies enjoy a brief layover in San Marcos this past Sunday. The butterflies are on a 2,500-mile trek from Canada, where they breed, to the forests of central Mexico, where they will hibernate. The 2023 Central Texas Walk for Apraxia event will be held on Oct. 28 at San Marcos Plaza Park to benefit children with apraxia of speech.

In one of the biggest wins of the season, Texas State defeated the South Alabama Jaguars, 3-1 (2225, 25-14, 25-22, 25-20) to sweep the doubleheader series.
The Rattlers will look to for their fourth consecutive playoff berth as San Marcos takes on East Central in the final game of the regular season.

It was a rough night for the San Marcos Rattlers Volleyball team as they fell in the final home game of the year against New Braunfels, 3-0 (25-21, 2516, 25-15).
Early voting begins on Monday, Oct. 23 and runs through Friday, Nov. 3 in Hays County, in anticipation of the Nov. 7 election, according to Hays County Elections Administrator Jennifer Doinoff.
