You probably crave a break from my patented “sour grapes” routine, but we must face facts: spring break (a.k.a. Easter break, a.k.a. mid-term break, a.k.a. “unwind, rejuvenate, have fun, but don’t forget how oppressed you are, students”) is not the same for every family.

Celestially, the April 8 total solar eclipse promises to be a far more impressive event than the annular eclipse the Texas Hill Country experienced in October. Logistically, however, getting to see the April 8 eclipse in all of its glory might prove to be a bit more challenging.

New TXST study shows 'overwhelming' increase in dry springs across state
Even after the recent expansion of the Hays County Jail, inmates are still outsourced to other counties due to overcrowding. It is an issue that has been ongoing for years, and Hays County has been working to reduce those numbers, as well as the associated expenditures that go with it. There is a relatively new department dedicated to doing just that. The Hays County Commissioners Court received a presentation on the status of the Judicial Services Department in the county at the regularly scheduled meeting last week.
Following the retirement announcement of Assistant City Manager Chase Stapp, the city of San Marcos will appoint Rodney Gonzales as Interim Assistant City Manager, effective March 18, 2024. Gonzales will oversee several crucial departments including Police, Fire, Neighborhood Enhance- ment, the Marshal’s Office and Emergency Management.
