The Rotary Club of San Marcos awarded scholarships to nine area seniors from San Marcos High School and Hill Country Christian School. The awards are for the 2023-2024 school year. Recipients from San Marcos High School include Lauren Lopez, Gael Martinez-Alvardo, Waylon Mitchell, Briana Sosa, Roan Turley, Hannah Williams, and Sophia Zavala. Hill Country Christian School recipients include Carigan Juel Davis and Caleb Robert Noble. Half of the scholarship for Gael Martinez-Alvardo was raised by students at Travis Elementary. Gael Martinez-Alvardo, is third from the left, along with Rotarians and educators from Travis Elementary School.

Clock ticks away on bills for 2023

Clock ticking on moving bills The clock is ticking on getting bills out of the House and to the Texas Senate, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick warned last week in a story in the Austin American- Statesman. Patrick presides over the Senate and is worried many bills that have made it out of House committees but have not gone before the full chamber will not be considered before the session ends.
