New Initiative for Texas Chapter of International Dark Sky Association

DarkSky Texas recently announced its new name along with a new initiative intended to reach more Texans about ways to improve outdoor lighting to benefit ourselves, the economy, and nature.

WALL COMES TO LIFE

A bright, colorful and beautiful river scene with a large turtle, a butterfly, Ralph the famous swimming pig in a tube, a helpful armadillo picking up trash, a fishing squirrel and a heron now adds one more spark of visual interest to a building downtown.

Gary Job Corps students, staff and Martindale City Council members, Mayor and City Manager recently held an areawide cleanup, with the assistance of volunteers in an effort to 'Keep Martindale Beautiful.' Students and staff from the Gary Center have assisted in other Earth Day activities such as San Marcos River Clean-Ups, cleaning up public parks and planting community gardens.
