The Economist: Open for business

There has been a move afoot of late in Texas to reduce or eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in settings such as higher education and hiring. Such efforts run counter to my boyhood notions of Texas as an open and welcoming place. Irrespective of any purported rationale behind these efforts, they put the state on a slippery economic slope with potentially substantial adverse consequences.

Texas State opens tournament with win over Georgia State

PENSACOLA, Fla. – With five Bobcats in double- figures for scoring, No. 11 seed Texas State took down No. 14 seed Georgia State, 81-76, in the first round of the 2023 Hercules Tires Sun Belt Basketball Championship at the Pensacola Bay Center on Tuesday.

San Marcos baseball loses to Kerrville Tivy

The San Marcos Rattlers fell short with a score of 1-4 against Kerrville Tivy at San Marcos High School for their fourth loss of the season, bringing them to a record of 2-4-1.

TXST Health Scholar Showcase will feature health researchers

Texas State University will host the seventh annual Health Scholar Showcase on Friday, March 3, at the TXST Performing Arts Center. The showcase, which is the largest university- wide faculty research event at TXST, brings together faculty, staff, and community members to share examples of health research from every college and research center.
