This weekend, San Marcos is home to the inaugural OUTlaw Pride Fest, an LGBTQ+ country music festival with shows, panel discussions and live music performances at Zelick’s, The Porch and The Davenport.

Top left, Kaylynn Martin pins her opponent from Round Rock McNeil to advance in the Region IV Tournament. Martin finished in the third place to advance to the UIL State Wrestling Tournament for the third time in her career where she is a two-time state placer. Martin enters the tournament with 26-3 record. Top right, Jesyka Banda pins her opponent from San Antonio Reagan to pull off the upset and advance to the Region IV final in the 100-pound weight class. Banda has advanced to the regionals four times in her career. Banda is a three-time state qualifier looking to win her first state medal. Banda enters the tournament with a 40-2 record. Bottom left, Anisa Moreno pins her opponent from Schertz Clemens during the opening round of the Region IV tournament. Moreno went on to win in the 145-pound weight class. Moreno is a three-time state qualifier with a record of 34-3. (

The San Marcos Wrestling Program continues its strong tradition as seniors Jesyka Banda and Kaylynn Martin, and junior Anisa Moreno will participate in the UIL State Wrestling Tournament.
DEAR ABBY: My partner and I recently had a baby, and it has created some major issues with my mom and in-laws. Mom is an unhappy person who blames others and external factors for her unhappiness. She laments her unhappiness to me. She’s incredibly jealous of any time we spend with my partner’s family. She makes mean comments about them to me and questions the amount of time we spend with them.

Looking at the future of transportation needs in the region, two local organizations are bringing experts to review upcoming initiatives and changes in San Marcos, Hays and Caldwell counties at a business luncheon. The 2023 Transportation Summit is sponsored by the Greater San Marcos Partnership and the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce.

Above, Parent/Senior Night activities highlight the pre-game moments at the Rattlers final home game against the East Central Hornets on Feb. 14. Gathering for a group shot with family are this year’s class of senior players. The Rattlers followed this celebration with a key win, 75-61. The team took home its first district championship since the 1998-1999 season. The team will move into the Bi-District round of the UIL high school playoffs. As of the time of press, it was undetermined as to whom the Rattlers would face in the playoff game. Rattler Basketball team wins district title for first time in 24 years
The Hays County Commissioners Court met in regular session to approve the creation of a no dumping zone in the area adjacent to Old Bastrop Highway and to authorize funding in response to an emergency need following the recent winter storm.
DEAR ABBY: I’m divorced and have been dating my guy friend for five years. We recognized after we started dating that we love each other, and we planned to move in together after a year of dating.
