ECONOMIST: Women in workforce

The Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics for this year has been awarded to American Claudia Goldin of Harvard University for her work in explaining changes in women’s earnings and participation in the labor market. Dr. Goldin examined more than 200 years of data (much of it gathered through painstaking sleuthing through obscure sources) to identify the causes of changes and the primary forces behind the lingering gender pay gap.

Rattlers fall to Buffaloes, will face Steele Friday

Despite taking the first set, San Marcos was unable to overcome Clemens, as the Rattlers fell to the Buffaloes 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-11).

Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center receives $350,000

Whit and Kim Hanks of Dripping Springs, on behalf of the Aubrey Smith Jr. Family Foundation, presented a final gift from the foundation of $350,000 to the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center.
