Texas State was projected to finish fourth in the Sun Belt West Division in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll released Wednesday morning.

After a 31-28 campaign in 2016, the Bobcats received one less point than Little Rock in third place. Unsurprisingly, the favorites in the West Division are defending conference champion Louisiana-Lafayette with defending the national champions, Coastal Carolina, as the favorite to win the East. Lafayette received a unanimous projection by earning all 12 first-place votes. Coastal Carolina received 10 with South Alabama and Georgia Southern receiving one vote apiece.

Texas State opens its season with a three-game home stand against Purdue Friday February 17 through 19. The team opens its Sun Belt schedule against the Chanticleers March 17 against Coastal Carolina at Bobcat Ballpark.

Georgia Southern will play host to the Sun Belt Tournament this season in Statesboro, Georgia. The tournament will be held May 24-28.
