Alonso, Castilla compete in annual Greater Austin Area All-Star Game

Recent San Marcos graduates Melanie Castilla and Ariana Alonso competed in the Greater Austin Area All-Star Game in June and represented the Rattlers with a win.

Castilla played at second base and third base for the South Team, while connecting for a single at the plate. Alonso played first base for the South Team as well and made solid contact against the opposing pitchers but was unable to record a hit. Both Lady Rattlers had a great performance defensively without an error.

The South Team broke through in the final inning with three runs to end the scoreless sheet both sides of pitchers displayed. In the final half inning, the South Team held on for a 3-1 win.

Castilla will be continuing her softball career at Schreiner University, while Alonso will be competing for Odessa College at the next level.
