Bobcats accept automatic invite to National Invitational Volleyball Championship

Texas State accepted an automatic bid to play in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. 

This will be the Bobcats first postseason appearance since 2013. Texas State concluded its 2017 season with a 24-9 record and finished second place in the Sun Belt, including an appearance in the conference tournament championship match.

The Bobcats are one of 15 schools to accept an automatic berth into the tournament. The full 32-team field will be announced after the NCAA Championship Selection Show on Sunday. 

Texas State will join fellow Texas teams: SMU, North Texas and Stephen F. Austin. 

Other teams currently in the field are Albany, Sacramento State, College of Charleston, Bowling Green, Maryland Eastern Shore, Wyoming, Bryant, SIUE, Oral Roberts, Alabama A&M and Pacific. 

The NIVC will be hosted entirely by participating teams. 

Eight squads will host four  teams in the first and second rounds, which are scheduled to begin on Nov. 28-30. The quarterfinals will begin on Dec. 1-3. Semifinals will be played on Dec. 4-9. The championship match will be held on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. and streamed on ESPN3.
