The second half belonged to Kaylee Davis.

After being denied on five shots in the first half, the junior forward found the back of the net twice in the second period, adding onto a goal from freshman forward Kayla Geren to give Texas State a 3-0 road win over Troy on Sunday.

In the 79th minute, junior defender Genesis Turman mailed a through ball up the field. Davis’ defender tried to slow the forward down by yanking on her jersey, but Davis fought through it to reach the ball and sent a shot towards goal. The ball found the left side of the net, good for Davis’ first goal of the game.

It didn’t take long for Davis to score again. Turman found the junior again, who launched the ball from 25 yards out. The Trojans' goalkeeper couldn’t reach the shot in time and the ball found the back of the net for the third time of the match in the 80th minute.

Davis is now up to 14 goals this year, tied with Britney Curry for third in program history. Junior goalkeeper Heather Martin also collected three saves in her third-straight shutout. She’s now tied for 10-most saves in a season with 64.

The Bobcats (9-5-1, 7-0-1 Sun Belt) will close out their season with a pair of home games against Georgia State on Friday at 7 p.m. and Coastal Carolina on Sunday at 1 p.m.
