Bobcats fall to TCU

Texas State Women's Basketball

Texas State lost its first game of the season Saturday. 

The Bobcats (2-1) fell to TCU (3-0), 82-58, inside Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena. 

The Horned Frogs led early in the first quarter but Texas State fought back to get to within 21-15 at the end of the period. 

The Bobcats battled with TCU in the second quarter. The Horned Frogs narrowly outscored Texas State, 15-14, in the second period to take a 36-29 into halftime. 

TCU put together a strong third-quarter performance. The Horned Frogs scored 32 points in the frame and held Texas State to 18 points. TCU took a 68-47 lead following the third quarter. 

TCU closed out the game on a 14-11 run in the final period to secure the 82-58 win. 

Texas State senior forward Ericka May recorded a team-high 10 points. Senior guard Taeler Deer the Bobcats with six assists, while senior forward Ti'Aira Pitts had eight rebound. 

TCU junior center Jordan Moore led the Horned Frogs with a career-high 28 points. Moore also grabbed eight boards. 

Texas State returns to action Tuesday against Texas Southern at 6 p.m. in Houston.
