DeWalt named All-American honorable mention

Texas State freshman setter Emily DeWalt was named a 2018 All-American honorable mention by VolleyballMag.com on Dec. 26. 

DeWalt put together a strong freshman campaign, where she finished second in the Sun Belt in total assists during conference play at 652 and third in total assists with 1,270. The Helotes native received 11 Sun Belt Player of the Week awards - Six Setter of the Week honors and five Freshman of the Week accolades. 

DeWalt became the first player in school history and fourth player in the conference to be named the AVCA National Player of the Week on Oct. 2. 

DeWalt was named the Sun Belt Setter of the Year and Freshman of the Year. She was also placed on the all-conference first team. 

DeWalt was a key part of Texas State’s historic season, where the Bobcats won the Sun Belt regular-season championship, tournament championship and won their first ever NCAA tournament match.
