Junior setter Emily DeWalt and redshirt sophomore outside hitter Lauren Teske notched two Sun Belt weekly awards on Tuesday after defeating Houston Baptist in a pair of home matches over the weekend, 3-0 on Friday and 3-1 on Saturday.

DeWalt was voted Sun Belt Setter of the Week after recording 21 digs, six kills, four blocks and two serving aces while averaging 12.29 assists during the two victories. The San Antonio Brandeis native has posted double-doubles in each of her past four appearances. DeWalt was also named Setter of the Week on Sept. 8 and she’s now received the laurel 11 times in her career.

Teske was selected as the conference’s Offensive Player of the week after averaging 4.14 kills and 3.71 digs per set while adding a two blocks and a team-high three aces. The Schertz Clemens product saw double-doubles in both matches this weekend and secured a career-high 19 kills in Saturday’s match against the Huskies. It’s Teske’s first time winning the award and her second overall conference weekly award after being named the freshman of the week last season (Oct. 28, 2019).

Texas State (5-1) is scheduled to begin Sun Belt play this weekend, hosting Louisiana-Monroe (1-2) in a three-match series beginning on Friday at 11 a.m. inside Strahan Arena.
