Lady Rattlers enter final stretch of the season

The Lady Rattlers are still pushing.

On Tuesday, San Marcos fell 3-0 on the road at New Braunfels, but the team is still making its opponents work to earn wins.

New Braunfels took the first set, 25-10, but the Lady Rattlers bounced back in the second, causing the Lady Unicorns to struggle a bit more. Senior middle blocker Shyeann Lampkin led the team with seven kills and two blocks and senior libero Celie Contreras anchored the defense with 10 digs.

The team couldn’t pull out the win, though. New Braunfels escaped the set with a 25-20 victory and went on to close the final set, 25-9, sealing the match, 3-0. The Lady Unicorns moved to 30-13 on the season and 8-4 in district while the Lady Rattlers fell to 17-24 and 1-11.

San Marcos has just two games left this season and will look to make the most of them. The team’s senior night will be held on Friday against Smithson Valley at 7 p.m. inside the Snake Pit. The Lady Rattlers will then end the season on the road at New Braunfels Canyon on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.
