San Marcos Volleyball

San Marcos suffered its second district loss of the season on Friday.

The Lady Rattlers were swept, 3-0 (18-25, 18-25, 22-25), by Austin Anderson on the road.

San Marcos entered Friday night's match on a three-game winning streak. But the Lady Rattlers had struggled in a 3-1 win over Manor on Tuesday.

San Marcos didn't fair well in the opening set against Anderson. The Lady Trojans took the first set, 18-25.

Anderson used the momentum gained in the opening frame to take the second set, 18-25.

The Lady Rattlers put together a better third set but they couldn't rally, and Anderson secured the sweep by taking the set, 25-22.

Friday's loss drops San Marcos' record down to 24-14 overall, and 7-2 in District 14-6A.

Senior middle blocker Taylor Henderson paced the Lady Rattler offense with 11 kills followed by junior middle blocker Shyeann Lampkin, who recorded nine kills.

Freshman setter Julia Antu recorded two service aces on Friday.

Henderson had a team-high 15 digs, while junior libero Celie Contreras added 14 digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Juila Gutierrez recorded seven skills and Antu had six.
