Goalkeepers rarely score hat tricks. Heather Martin has done it twice.

On Tuesday, the Sun Belt Conference named the junior Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this year. Martin won the award three times last season as well, making her the first player in conference history to earn back-to-back three-peats.

The only goal Martin allowed over her past five matches was a clearance by her teammate that accidentally found the net. Martin began the week swallowing up six shots in a 1-1 draw at home against Georgia State last Friday.

In her next match, Martin stopped seven shots and shut out Coastal Carolina as Texas State defeated the Chanticleers 1-0 on Sunday to secure the Sun Belt regular season conference title.

Martin is up to 10 victories this season between the posts. The goalkeeper is tied for fifth in the NCAA with a .917 save percentage in 1,273 minutes played.

The Bobcats (10-5-2, 8-0-2 Sun Belt) will take part in the first round of the Sun Belt conference tournament on Oct. 31 against Troy (4-13-1, 3-6-0) in Foley, Alabama. The time of the game will be announced following the match between Little Rock and Appalachian State, which takes place Oct. 28 at 12 p.m.
