The Rattlers and Lady Rattlers closed the 2017 year with one final tournament. The Lady Rattlers traveled to Bastrop, while the boys competed in the Hays County Classic.

Head coach Veronda Kendall and the Lady Rattlers were up early on Thursday with a 9 a.m. matchup scheduled against Poth. San Marcos fell 41-33 but bounced back with its second game of the day against Cedar Creek and concluded the afternoon 1-1.

The Lady Rattlers opened Friday morning with another 9 a.m. game against a district opponent, Manor. Following a 50-39 win, San Marcos moved onto the final game of the tournament. The Lady Rattlers were set to face the winner between Stony Point or Leander. But due to time constraints and the holidays, the final match has been updated online at the San Marcos Daily Record Sports Page.

The boys opened the Hays County Classic with a 54-41 win over McCallum. The win setup a rematch against East Central who handed San Marcos a loss earlier this season. The Hornets beat the Rattlers 80-61, resulting in a 1-1 finish in the opening day of the tournament for head coach Thomas Acker’s group.
