Rattlers set to play Pflugerville Hendrickson in playoffs

San Marcos Boys Basketball

San Marcos’ regular season came to a close on Tuesday night in a rough fashion. The Rattlers dropped their sixth-straight game, but a solid 4-0 start to district play kept the playoff hopes alive.

With a 4-6 record, San Marcos squeezed its way into the Bi-District round of the UIL 6A playoffs for the fourth straight season. The Rattlers have drawn the 13-6A district champion Pflugerville Hendrickson in the opening round.

The Hawks finished 20-14 overall, 9-3 in district following their 66-61 win over Pflugerville in the season closer. The only opponent both San Marcos and Hendrickson competed against was Manor. The early season matchup between the Hawks and Mustangs resulted in a three-point win, 55-52, for Manor.

San Marcos saw the Mustangs twice this year and split the games. The Rattlers have been struggling on the offensive end as of late but will look to their seniors for some production as they did early in district play. If San Marcos can hold on to a lead early then they’ll be in a good position to have success with its 2-1-2 zone defense.

The San Marcos-Hendrickson matchup is scheduled to begin on Tuesday. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Toney Burger Activity Center.
