State's preseason WNIT first-round tournament opponent revealed

Texas State will begin its run in the 2018 Preseason Women’s National Invitational Tournament on the road against New Mexico on Nov. 9 with an 8 p.m. tip-off, Triple Crown Sports announced on Tuesday.

The announcement came with the release of the full bracket. Texas State and New Mexico have met three times with the Bobcats winning two of the three matchups.

The teams battled three times in 1986. The Lobos won the first contest, 61-57, on Jan. 14, 1986. Texas State bounced back with a 62-44 win on Dec. 6 and a 65-64 victory on Dec. 21.

The winner will take on either Auburn or Nicholls State. The loser will head to a consolation round after the first-round winners are determined.
