Top-seeded Bobcats awaits next opponent in Sun Belt semifinal

Texas State officially received an automatic bid to the Sun Belt tournament semifinal after the conference released the bracket on Sunday.

The Bobcats locked up the No. 1 seed of the tournament with a 15-1 league record, their only loss coming from Arkansas State, 3-2, on Nov. 2. The top two seeds in the tourney receive byes through the first two rounds.

No. 5-seeded UT-Arlington and No. 8-seed Troy will square off in the first round on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to try to advance to a second-round matchup with No. 4-seeded Little Rock on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The winner of that matchup will face Texas State in the semifinals on Saturday at 5 p.m.

The championship match will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. against No. 2-seeded Appalachian State, No. 3-seed Coastal Carolina, No. 6-seed Arkansas or No. 7-seed South Alabama. The tournament will be hosted by Georgia State in Atlanta.
