The Texas State defense will be under new leadership as safeties coach Dexter McCoil Sr. was promoted to defensive coordinator over the offseason following the departure of Jonathan Patke who became the new defensive coordinator for the Duke Blue Devils.
The Rattlers took every punch the Unicorns had Friday night, but still had an answer.
Texas State won their fourth consecutive conference series beating the Troy Trojans two games to three.
Texas State could not complete the sweep against Troy falling to the Trojans 4-3 in a 12 inning game.
One question that comes up for race organizers is the need for a lead bike. Some feel that if they put out direction arrows and have a person stand at critical turns that the need for a lead bike is not necessary. And in many cases this may work. Over the years I have seen a number of problems with both a lead bike and using only direction arrows. Runners tend to get into the spirit of the race and focus on running and are not bothered by distractions.

The San Marcos Track and Field team will send nine individual athletes and one relay team to the Area Track Meet following the completion of the District 27 Track Meet.
