Wimberley Birding Society to present ‘Magical Migration’ at quarterly meeting Nov. 20

Sunday, November 19, 2023

Bird migration will be the primary topic at the quarterly meeting of the Wimberley Birding Society.

The meeting is set for 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 20, at the Wimberley Community Center. It is open to the public.

The featured speaker will be Shelia Hargis, noted bird educator from Austin. Her speech is titled “Magical Migration: Birds on the Move.”

Hargis is past president of both Travis Audubon and Texas Ornithological Society. She has given presentations on a variety of bird topics and teaches classes on introduction to bird behavior to Travis Audubon and eBird members.

Hargis presentation will focus on a few of the south-bound migrations that tend to be spectacular — hawks, chimney swifts, purple martins and ruby-throated hummingbirds.
