Wimberley Players announce 2024 season

“After an extensive search, the Wimberley Players is proud to announce what they hope to be their most exciting season to date,” said Karin Cunningham, Vice President of Wimberley Players Marketing. “The selections for the 2024 season’s five productions includes an eclectic mix of popular, challenging and controversial plays.”

“The lineup inspired a record number of very talented veteran directors to apply, including several directors who are new to the Players. We hope our season will inspire you to attend.”

The first play of the season will be the popular “Shakespeare in Love,” that explores William Shakespeare’s creative process and his inspiration as he writes Romeo and Juliet. Performances are February 23 through March 17.

The challenging play, “Doubt, a Parable,” will be performed on the Players stage beginning in April. Set against the backdrop of 1960s America amid political and social change, a progressive young priest’s past conduct comes into question by the school principal whose pious beliefs are deeply rooted in sacred traditions. Performances are April 26 through May 19.

“Legally Blonde, The Musical,” was chosen for the summer musical. Based on the hit movie of the same name, it chronicles the journey of Elle Woods, a fashion-savvy UCLA sorority girl who enrolls in Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend. Performances are July 12 through August 4.

In the play, “Now and Then,” an old man wanders into a young couple’s bar late one night and makes them an offer they can’t refuse. Before long, they realize that he is unusually invested in their personal choices. Performances are September 13 through October 6.

In the classic, “Miracle on 34th Street,” a white-bearded gentleman claiming to be the real Santa Claus brings about a genuine miracle by convincing a divorced, cynical singer mother, her somber daughter and the entire state of New York that Santa Claus is no myth. Performances are Nov. 15 through Dec. 8.
