A friend recently sent me a photo of a hawk which had perched in a tree in her yard. It was a handsome specimen, with light rufous shoulders, or upper-wing coverts, to be precise. It also had reddish barring on the chest and belly.

Central Texas Beekeepers School now accepting students

Students at the Bee School can suit up and watch while a hive of live bees is opened and inspected. The school will be held April 1 in Brenham.

People interested in producing honey and helping to save the bees may attend the 13th Annual Central Texas Beekeepers School on Saturday, April 1 at Brenham High School in Brenham. The school is open to the public for anyone interested in keeping bees or who wants to learn about bees.
