Drum, dance circle Saturday in memory of ‘Miss Susie’

A drum and dance circle in memory of Susie Mullen, also known as Miss Susie or Susie the Viking Goddess, will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in City Park.

The “Susie, Viking Goddess of Jones Dining Hall” Facebook page has information about the event, which is meant to honor Mullen and “help ourselves and each other heal our hearts, and to rejoice in how Miss Susie touched our hearts.” Non-perishable food donations to the Hays County Food Bank, one of Mullen’s favorite causes, will be accepted at the drum circle but are not mandatory.

The Facebook page says that the drum circle is a student initiative, and the student behind it chooses to remain anonymous in order to not “take any light off of Miss Susie.”
