Texas State expands its student mental health, well-being resources

Students at Texas State University will receive expanded access to mental health and basic needs support through a new partnership with TimelyCare, the premier provider of virtual health and well-being resources in higher education. Students can access these services at no additional cost to them via the TimelyCare App or by visiting TXST Timely-Care.

Colds might not be as common in summer as they are in winter, but anyone who has ever had a cold when the weather outside is warm and inviting knows just how unpleasant a runny nose, sore throat and lack of energy can be when everyone else seems to be outside soaking up the sun. Indeed, there’s no substitute for feeling fit and healthy in summer.

Board of trustees approves school marshal language

The San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to approve the language for the upcoming school marshal program, six to one, with Trustee at Large Dr. Mari Salmi casting the dissenting vote. The board also received an operations update from the SMCISD Director of School Safety Doug Wozniak at last week's regularly scheduled meeting.

A historical marker, years in the making, will be dedicated at Cuauhtémoc Hall on Saturday.
In the early 1900s the Mexican American community struggled to gain improvements in educational and social services, so a group of community members formed La Sociedad Mutualista Cuauhtémoc. This year marks the 81st anniversary of its formation. The Hays County Commissioners Court issued a proclamation recognizing La Sociedad Mutualista Cuauhtémoc on June 20 for the historical marker that will be dedicated at 10 a.m. at Cuauhtémoc Hall, located at 1100 Patton Street, on Saturday.

La Sociedad Mutualista Cuauhtémoc to celebrate 81 years

On Saturday, La Sociedad Mutualista Cuauhtémoc will mark its 81st year serving as a gathering space for Latinos in the San Marcos community. Festivities will begin at 10 a.m. at Cuauhtémoc Hall with the unveiling of its historical marker, which was recognized on June 20 with a proclamation issued by Hays County.
