Emily DeWalt is running out of fingers to count on.

On September 17, DeWalt earned her second Sun Belt Setter of the Week award. It was historic, as no freshman had ever been named to the honor twice in the same season.

But on Monday, DeWalt won the laurel again. She’s up to five now.

The freshman dished out 79 assists in Texas State’s two road victories this week over South Alabama and Troy. DeWalt is up to 947 assists this season, good for 15th in the NCAA and second in the conference.

Against the Jaguars, DeWalt posted 49 assists, seven digs and five blocks in a 3-1 win last Friday. She followed it up with 30 assists, 11 digs and four kills in a 3-0 sweep over the Trojans on Saturday, marking her conference-leading 16th double-double of the season.

The setter has also been named Freshman of the Week five times this year. Her 10 weekly accolades are tied for the most by a player in a single season.

DeWalt and the Bobcats (20-5, 11-0 Sun Belt) will look to extend their 15-match win streak on Friday against Louisiana (12-12, 4-6) inside Strahan Arena at 6:30 p.m.
