Texas State earned a three-game sweep over Georgia Southern by taking the series finale, 4-2, on Saturday inside Eagle Field in Statesboro, Ga.

The Bobcats (25-19, 13-7 Sun Belt) used an RBI single from junior catcher Haleigh Davis to grab an early 1-0 advantage over the Eagles (19-24, 5-15).

Georgia Southern responded in the second when senior shortstop Macy Coleman hit a two-run home run to take a 2-1 lead.

Texas State freshman Molly Damiani, who came into pinch run, tied the score when she stole third and scored on a throwing error.

Another Georgia Southern error put the Bobcats on top 3-2 in the fifth inning. Texas State sophomore first base ArieAnn Bell hit a solo homer to extend the lead to 4-2.

The Eagles couldn’t rally and the Bobcats held onto secure the series sweep. This marks the third series sweep of the year for Texas State during Sun Belt play. Texas State extended its winning streak over Georgia Southern to eight consecutive victories.

The Bobcats begin the final homestand of the year on Tuesday against Houston at 5:30 p.m. inside Bobcat Softball Stadium. This week is Teal Week for the Bobcats, which raises awareness for ovarian cancer research.
