Three Rattler athletes head to Regional Track Meet

Three Rattler track athletes advanced to the 6A Region IV Track where they will have an opportunity to compete for the berth in the UIL State Track Meet.

For the San Marcos girls track team, sophomore Aaralyn Julian placed fourth in the 800 M Run to qualify for the Regional Meet with a time of 2:23.07.

At the District 27 Track Meet, Julian placed third to qualify for Area.

For the San Marcos boys track team, David Vasquez will make a return trip back to the 6A Region IV Track Meet qualifying in the 300 M Hurdles.

Vasquez placed second overall with a time of 39.69 after placing second in the District 27 Track Meet.

Joining Vasquez in qualifying for 6A Region IV Track Meet is freshman Tucker Jones.

Jones placed 4th in the 1,600 M Run with a time of 4:38.96 after capturing the gold medal in the District 27 Track Meet.

Julian, Vasquez and Jones will compete at the 6A Region IV Track Meet for a chance to compete at the State Track Meet in May.

The road will not be easy as all three athletes will need to battle through prelims on Day 1 to get to the finals on Day 2.

To qualify for state, runners must place in the top two or have the best time or result in third place for the wild card.

The 6A Region IV Track Meet will take place April 19-20 at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.
