The Rattlers have qualified for the State Tournament four times in program history. The first came during the 1967 1968 season, when San Marcos finished in fourth place. The Rattlers qualified for the State Tournament in consecutive seasons, 1983 1984 and 1984-1985. Both times, San Marcos finished as State Runner's Up. The last time San Marcos qualified for the State Tournament came in the 1986-1987 season, when the Rattlers fell to Amarillo in the State Semifinals.
