Local track star qualifies for AAU Junior Olympics

San Marcos local Jaxon Canady qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics Games Track and Field Competition after placing in the top six of the 800-meter run in the 8 and under division at the AAU Regional Qualifier in Converse, Texas.

The Wimberley VFW Rodeo is the longest running rodeo in Hays County having first started in 1935 while taking place during the July 4th weekend. Being a partner of the local VFW chapter in Wimberley, the Rodeo is also a way to give back to the veterans who have served.

Competitors competed in a thrilling three day weekend that featured bronc riding, bull riding, tie down roping, barrel racing, and even mutton bustin'. San Marcos’ own Kinsley Thornton competed in the mutton bustin' on Saturday.
