It was a hard fought battle but Texas State couldn’t overcome a cold night shooting in the fourth quarter as the Bobcats fell to the James Madison Dukes, 58-54.

It was a tale of two games for Texas State at the I-35 Invitational as the Bobcats blew out the Lamar Cardinals 9-0 on Thursday and lost to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Friday 2-0.

There was a report of a new record in running that I had not heard of this week. Thinking of all the different races, challenges, and contests that use the activity of running it seems almost anything goes when it comes to competing with some form of running.
Top left, Kaylynn Martin pins her opponent from Round Rock McNeil to advance in the Region IV Tournament. Martin finished in the third place to advance to the UIL State Wrestling Tournament for the third time in her career where she is a two-time state placer. Martin enters the tournament with 26-3 record. Top right, Jesyka Banda pins her opponent from San Antonio Reagan to pull off the upset and advance to the Region IV final in the 100-pound weight class. Banda has advanced to the regionals four times in her career. Banda is a three-time state qualifier looking to win her first state medal. Banda enters the tournament with a 40-2 record. Bottom left, Anisa Moreno pins her opponent from Schertz Clemens during the opening round of the Region IV tournament. Moreno went on to win in the 145-pound weight class. Moreno is a three-time state qualifier with a record of 34-3. (

The San Marcos Wrestling Program continues its strong tradition as seniors Jesyka Banda and Kaylynn Martin, and junior Anisa Moreno will participate in the UIL State Wrestling Tournament.
Kasper Nyland opened the spring season with a 2nd place finish shooting 10-under par at the Hal Williams Collegiate, his top finish of his collegiate-career. Texas State finished ninth among 15 teams at the Magnolia Grove Crossing Golf Course on Tuesday.
Above, San Marcos celebrates their first district championship since the 1998-1999 season. Below, Malik Presley, 22, goes up for the rim rattling dunk to add another two points for the Rattlers. Presley finished the game with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Above, Parent/Senior Night activities highlight the pre-game moments at the Rattlers final home game against the East Central Hornets on Feb. 14. Gathering for a group shot with family are this year’s class of senior players. The Rattlers followed this celebration with a key win, 75-61. The team took home its first district championship since the 1998-1999 season. The team will move into the Bi-District round of the UIL high school playoffs. As of the time of press, it was undetermined as to whom the Rattlers would face in the playoff game. Texas State (1-3) tennis dropped their home opener 4-3 to Tarleton State (4-2) despite a late comeback on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — A questionable late penalty on Philadelphia Eagles cornerback James Bradberry with less than two minutes remaining meant that a scintillating Super Bowl 57 had a bit of an underwhelming finish.
Texas State continues to be in the heart of it for the Sun Belt regular season crown as the Bobcats knocked off the Marshall Thundering Herd in a 64-60 win.
