Court to discuss need for pretrial case management software, election security

Hays County Commissioners Court is set to meet today at 9 a.m. On the agenda for the regularly scheduled meeting is the possible purchase of case management software for pretrial services, additional funds for RM 12 safety improvements, the purchase of security cameras for the IT and elections department and a Hays County Historical Commission appointment.

Council approves Blanco Shoals infrastructure extension request

The San Marcos City Council recently approved a developer's request for the installation of wastewater infrastructure across the Blanco Shoals Natural Area, a dedicated parkland.

New businesses have space at furniture store grand opening

Recently, the Ashley Furniture Store, located at 850 Barnes Drive in the Stonecreek Crossing Shopping Center, opened with fanfare and activities. The new store takes on the old footprint of the former Bealls. Inside, store management extended an opportunity for other businesses to have pop up stands throughout. For new shoppers, there was also a DJ, and employees were handing out promotional cards and other grand opening items.

Council approves meet and confer with firefighters

Throughout the spring and into the summer, the San Marcos Professional Fire Fighters Association and city of San Marcos staff have been in negotiations, working toward a revised meet and confer agreement, regarding key issues that included wages, rates of pay, hours of work and working conditions.

Commissioners vote against land rezoning request

San Marcos Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously voted against the rezoning of approximately 24.48 acres located on South Old Bastrop Highway, near the intersection with Rattler Road, at their regularly scheduled meeting Thursday.
