Uncanvassed votes for the Kyle election result in newly elected city council members to be sworn in, mayor race to runoff and bond-funded construction to begin.
The city council district 2 race ended with Yvonne Flores-Cale beating incumbent Tracy Scheel by 1,010 votes. The city council district 4 race ended with Ashlee Bradshaw beating Tim McHutchion by 1,141 votes. Flores-Cale and Bradshaw will be sworn in during the Tuesday, Nov. 17 meeting.
In a close race, incumbent Travis Mitchell received 5,795 votes, 36 votes shy of challenger Linda Tenorio’s 5,831 votes. With less than a 100 vote difference and Kyle City Charter requiring a majority, a runoff between the candidates will be held Tuesday, Dec. 8.
In conjunction with the general election, voters considered two major city bond propositions.
Proposition A – which funds the design, construction and equipping of a new Public Safety Center that would be located on Marketplace Avenue at Kohler’s Crossing for a total of $37 million – passed with 55.49% of voters for it.
Proposition B – which funds property acquisition, planning, designing, developing, constructing, improving, and equipping of a public park specifically a Regional Sportsplex and Festival Grounds for a total of $10 million – passed with 56.23% of voters for it.
City of Kyle election results will be official once canvassed on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
